Films about birds

Reserved for Birds, 1958 (39’03”) – a film made for the RSPB about its reserve at Minsmere and the birds found there, including Marsh Harriers, Reed Warblers, Bitterns, Sand Martins, Gadwall, Shelduck, Swallows, Oystercatchers, Skylarks and Linnets.

Swallows at the Mill, 1962 (22’25”) – a film made for the RSPB about swallows breeding in an old mill building, and featuring other garden birds. [Unfortunately, this video is incomplete, because of a fault in the DVD copy from which it was made. It includes the first 10 minutes of the film; 8 minutes of the film is then missing, before the video resumes with an egg-laying sequence.]

Ospreys Return, 1962 (8’20”) – a short black-and-white film about the return of the Ospreys to Loch Garten. Original soundtrack unavailable.

Stranger on the Bass, 1968 (11’54”) – a short film about the Black-browed Albatross that was found alone among the gannets on the Bass Rock in 1967
